Top 4 Pakistani beauty products

# 4  – Stillman’s Cream

A clear, glowing complexion is what every woman wants. We dream of waking up with shiny, flawless skin that looks like its been done up by angels during the night. But during the day most of us live such exciting, busy, packed, stress-filled lives that we insist on documenting religiously every night on Facebook, we usually end up with dull, splotchy, dry/oily skin that really looks like its been at the receiving end of the Devil’s claws. What to do? Well we then hotfoot it to the nearest store and start stocking up on every beauty cream in the world of every brand under the sun. L’oreal, Lancome, Estee Lauder… down to something as simple as Vaseline.

Here’s a little tip – you don’t need any of them. All that talk about sheen spleen, shimmer glimmer, primer shmimer looks great when you’ve got beautiful celebrities and tons of airbrushing techniques at hand. But us mere mortals need something else… a quick fix of sorts. Hence we have Stillman’s Creams. They’re cheap, they come in cute pots and most importantly they’re effective.

Though wtf the pelican is for is beyond us.

Stillman’s bleach cream actually gives you that sheen that you see on the likes of Victoria Beckham in her sultry shoots with David Beckham. Stillman’s blemish cream ensures you have crystal clear skin the likes to put an English rose to shame. So ladies, head down to your local medical haal, save the extra bucks and invest in Stillman’s.

# 3 – Medora lipstick

It’s tough being a woman in this day and age. With so many products promising long lasting effects and spanning a wide price range, no female has much of an excuse to not deck up and look good. But you know something? It gets tiring powdering your face every now and then, checking if your lipgloss hasn’t been smeared across your face by your hair and whether your lipstick has bled or *horror of horrors* smudged onto your teeth.

So what to do? The answer is simple: Medora. Medora offers one the brightest colours which is excellent for our desi skin tone (sadly the nude look makes us look dead). And it lasts. Boy, does it last. I’ve actually seen Medora lipstick last longer than some marriages and those marriages actually consisted of couples who were too old to get it on!

One slap of Medora lipstick will ensure that not only does it brighten up your face but it STAYS. IN. PLACE. It does not bleed. It does not smudge. It does not smear. It does not get onto your teeth. And it will last you a good 36 hours.

On a side note… no amount of make-up will ever make you look like her.

SO after that dinner with the hot date, and coffee afterwards, you guaranteed to wake up looking and feeling as glam as you did when you put on that lipstick.

# 2 – Samsol egg shampoo

So we’ve covered the face and make up, what next? Hair! Let’s get one thing sorted out ladies, hair matters. It doesn’t matter how or what you do with it as long as its healthy. But when you’ve got to blow dry it, straighten it, curl it, tie it up, style it, dye it, streak it… yeah, healthy hair becomes bit of a myth. In fact it gets so damaged that every time you walk into the salon your hairdresser is SO pleased to see you… more for your money than for your charming personality.

Next thing you know, you’ve got your wretched looks tucked up under a cap while you prowl the aisles where all the shampoos and conditioners lie. Images of Oscar Award-esque hair style flash befor your eyes and you curse yourself for destroying your hair.

With a dent in your pocket and a bag full of Garnier and Herbal Essences products, you spend the next one week indulging your locks… in vain.

Girls, girls, girlies. It’s time to go back to your roots. Bring out the olive oil, the egg and the yogurt. What’s that? You don’t like the smell? Neither do I. So we turn to Samsol egg shampoo. In case you’re wondering what’s so special about this shampoo… well it contains egg. And if you cant’ read no worries, they’ve got the picture of  a cracked egg on the cover so you know it has that special ingredient.

Obviously packaging isn’t their strongest suit. That is the ugliest fucking bottle of shampoo in the world.

# 1 – Eden Roc powder

Anyone from South Asia knows of the long, hot, humid weather that plagues us every summer. Skin becomes sticky, hair becomes frizzy and dark chocolate becomes an adjective used to describe our skin tone. What makes things worse is when our governments refuse to give us electricity leaving us to marinate in our own sweat.

Which is as pleasant as it sounds.

Before anyone can say “Oh well take a cold shower..” or “Why don’t you guys just go swimming?” I’d like to point out that water is a treat in some parts here. So out of respect we don’t really indulge in such activities… We’re a respectful lot y’see even when the heat gets to our heads… ANYWAY!

Point is, what do we do to battle the heat? Well, ladies and gents, I offer you Eden Roc Prickly Heat powder. It’s dirt cheap and once on your skin it feels like every pore is an air conditioner which is what we all need. In fact even Eden Roc knows that they are so good, that they can actually afford to write “Kool” on the box and we’ll still buy it. Now that’s cool.
