Fashion fiasco!

Fashionista’s never fail to surprise us and nor does the fashion industry as a whole, however having said that hats off to Pakistan’s fashion industry for gaining recognition globally after having hosted a successful “Fashion Week.” Agreed that the controversy will continue, debates about whether the next Veena Malik will be a product of the world of fashion will persevere, and blame games will persist, however the nation (whilst trying to defend its national honour) is all set to make its mark  in the world of fashion.

Indulging in some retail therapy, women year after year prepare for the biggest battle of their lives comparable to a rugby scrum – the designer lawn exhibitions.  Every self proclaimed designer gets to work months before in order to ensure their lawn collection is out to compete with the rest. The rat race begins, who is going to be deemed fashionista of the season, the first to have the exclusive designer print out in the market.  The nikamma tailors are on standby, knowing that their loyal customer base are about to invade their shops with unrealistic dates of when the clothes should be stitched by. And to add to the confusion come the laces, buttons and frill, leaving the nikamma tailor baffled and alas you are left with a jora which has a different lace on the asteen to the one on the daman and your jora is for lack of a better word RUINED. Rushing back to the store to stock up on however many joras it was that have been ruined by nikkama you make your way through the sprawl outside the exhibition only to see the dreaded sight and shriek with horror – “ Sold Out”

After experiencing something similar to a heart attack, they leave with dismay, telling themselves that next season, they will finish first. They will be better planned and they will prevail.
